La Vie Est Belle Rose Extraordinaire ($158; lancome-usa.com) is the newest fragrance from Lancome, a warm, woody rose-musk concoction with notes of fresh rose water - rose accord - rose damascena absolue, Iris and Woody Musk and Sandalwood. The bottle design is similar to the La Vie Est Belle fragrance line but gorgeously designed with a sculpted rose reinvented by the renowned artist Catherine Krunas. The opening is very floral, not heavy, but just the right mix of rose and iris. The rose is strong, not overpowering, very feminine and sophisticated. I love rose notes in fragrances and absolutely love how this wears on me throughout the day. The Iris adds a slightly powdery, yet rich note to the floral base and keeps it very interesting. The dry down brings out a lot of the woody musk and sandalwood to keep it warm and soft. I think this is probably my favorite La Vie Est Belle so far and a year round fragrance for me. The longevity is truly amazing - lasted a whole day on me which is rare for most fragrances. Overall, a gorgeous fragrance to try if you like florals with a touch of musk and a fantastic Mother’s Day gift for anyone who loves their fragrances.
