Donna Born In Roma Intense Eau de Parfum ($156; sephora.com) is a new launch from Valentino, a warm amber floral fragrance for women.The bottle looks stunning in black and hints of pink, and the notes include Bourbon Vanilla, Amber, Jasmine and Benzoin. The fragrance itself is sophisticated and slightly floral without being too heady and has the right mix of sweetness. The opening is more floral with the Jasmine being the most dominant note with a whiff of the vanilla, while the dry down is completely sweet and delicious with the vanilla notes being more prominent. The Jasmine feels more crisp than heady and the vanilla-benzoin concoction is sweet, yet soft and cozy. It has the right intensity to last through the day without being too overpowering. It is feminine, slightly rich and definitely something I’d gravitate towards more in the early spring and fall. The dry down brings out a lot of the vanilla, and although it isn’t quite like a gourmand fragrance, it does have the perfect amount of sweetness and is a great choice for anyone who likes vanilla based fragrances.
