Essence Pretty Natural Hydrating Foundation Review, Photos, Swatches
The Pretty Natural Hydrating Foundation ($6; ulta.com) is a new foundation from Essence, a hydrating, lightweight foundation with a beautiful satin finish. The neither thick nor too thin texture can be applied using a brush or fingers. While it is described as a hydrating foundation, I found the finish to be more of a satin-matte without being too dewy or flat matte. I tried three shades from the range and they are decent matches for my skin tone at this time of the year when I’m not very tan. I have pretty dry skin which leans normal-combination in the summer and skipping powder works best with this finish. A light dusting of finishing powder can be used if you have oily skin, but for drier skin types, I’d recommend skipping powder since this formula did not make my natural oils come through and did not tend to move around much. The longevity was nice even without a setting spray or primer. Overall, the shade range is great, the formula, although not dewy, feels comfortable and not too heavy.
