5 New Haircare Discoveries For Medium-Fine Hair | Quick Reviews & Thoughts

A few hair styling products that I’ve recently discovered, tried and tested for my medium-fine hair that gets frizzy super quickly. Short reviews and thoughts on five of these new to me products.

Essential Rinse Purifying Scalp & Hair Toner ($29; essentialrinse.com & the Younghee Salon in NYC) is a toner that helps balance, clarify and soothe the scalp. Its one to be used after shampoo and has a minty scent that washes off with the product. While I do like how balanced it leaves my scalp, I don’t think its a replacement for a clarifying shampoo. I just massage a few pumps onto the scalp, leave on for a few minutes and wash off, following up with conditioner, if needed. The packaging is also quite easy to use in the shower. It adds shine and gives you a little bit of a root lift.

The Shu Uemura Blow Dry Beautifier Thermo BB Serum ($39; shuuemuraartofhair.com) is a fantastic pre styling, lightweight serum. It detangles, hydrates and doesn’t weigh hair down too much, although overtime, it can build up just a little. The scent is quite strong, although not too noticeable after a few minutes. Its a good one if you have medium-fine hair that can get greasy with styling products.

The Healing Style Dry Shampoo ($22; lanza.com for authorized salon locations) and the Healing Oil Brush Thru Hairspray ($28; lanza.com for authorized salon locations) are two very new launches by L’anza. The Dry Shampoo is great for second or third day hair. I don’t let my hair go past second day very often, but when I do, this is an invisible, easy to use dry shampoo that I like. The scent is amazing too. The Brush Through Hair Spray is a great, medium hold setting spray. It doesn’t make my hair crunchy and holds styles in really well.

The Macadamia Professional Anti-Humidity Finishing Spray ($19.95; macadamiahair.com) is a frizz controlling, finishing spray for fine hair types. Although medium hold and good at taming flyaways, I did feel like this one made my hair feel a little textured. The key is to use very little product and comb through as quickly as possible.
