Always Red Femme ($69 for 3.3 oz; elizabetharden.com) is described as an intriguing, feminine and dynamic interpretation of the classic Always Red fragrance by Elizabeth Arden. Its a more youthful version of Always Red, Femme being a more fruity floral with a touch of the warm woody base. The fragrance notes include Blackcurrant, Lemon, Green Pear, Peach Blossom, Lily Of The Valley, Davana, Jasmine, Patchouli, Moss, Cedar and Vanilla. Always Red Femme lacks the soapy base that Always Red has and is definitely more youthful, yet sophisticated and feminine. The opening is very sweet, mostly from the blackcurrant, green pear, peach and lily. The Jasmine and Lily kick in once the fragrance settles down and linger through the dry down along with Vanilla and Patchouli. The Blackcurrant is a very prominent note here and is something that I could detect from opening to dry down. Its quite a long wearing fragrance and a good pick for the cooler fall-winter months. Overall, I do prefer this the most over the other versions of Always Red and is one to try if you like sweet, but not to sweet, yet warm woody florals for this time of the year.
