Nirvana Rose ($25 - $85; sephora.com) and Nirvana Bourbon ($25 - $85; sephora.com) are two new launches from Elizabeth And James. They’re both gorgeous fall/winter fragrances, but also fabulous to wear all through the year. I got to try roller balls of the fragrances, but the packaging on the full sizes are stunning!
Nirvana Rose is a soft floral with notes of Rose de Mai, Geranium, and Vetiver. Its a feminine, elegant fragrance that opens up with notes of rose, the prominent one my nose detects. Its a rather dry, sharp rose scent that settles down to something a bit softer as it wears down. The vetiver kicks in as the scent settles down and the geranium lingers throughout the dry down. Nirvana Bourbon is an oriental-woody scent with notes of vanilla, bourbon and oakwood with hints of tuberose. The vanilla bourbon gives it a gourmand touch, while the oak moss keeps it from turning too cloying and sweet. I get lots of vanilla from opening to dry down, a touch of the tuberose and a certain softness from the oak moss as it settles down. Its richer when compared to Rose, but Rose has better sillage of the two. I absolutely love a good gourmand fragrance for this time of the year and Bourbon definitely is on rotation this season, while Rose is something that would work through all seasons!
