Shiseido’s new Ibuki Beauty Sleeping Mask ($40; sephora.com) is a new addition to the Ibuki Skincare range, targeted at women in their late 20’s-early 30’s. Beauty Sleeping Mask is an overnight leave on mask that features vitamin capsules in a gel base. The bouncy gel texture melts upon application and leaves a slightly shiny finish. Its one to use before bedtime, alone or over a serum. I found the mask to be pretty fragranced, but its not a very cloying scent. To use, I just take a very small amount with the spatula and massage onto skin. I don’t massage it all the way and just let the mask soak in by itself overnight. It gets absorbed pretty quickly, although initially it can feel a tad sticky. Its definitely quite a hydrating mask, also quite brightening and skin looks pretty well rested the next morning. Although I have pretty dry skin, I have always only used it alone and never combined it with any other skincare like serums or oils. It doesn’t feel too heavy and is quite rich although it is gel based. Overall, its quite a lovely overnight mask, great consistency and texture, the fragrance, although very nice, can be a tad too much for some people, but that apart, I really like it as a treat 3-4 times in a week.
