Laura Mercier’s Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation ($48; sephora.com;*Press Sample) is a new, lightweight, medium coverage foundation that has a luminous, yet satin finish. My skintone matches pretty perfectly with the shade Golden, which is described as a “Light To Medium with Warm Undertones". I like my foundations to be sheer to buildable in coverage and this one definitely falls into that category. I like both fingers and a dense buffing brush the best with this texture and the finish is really natural looking and luminous as described to be. It does work better with a good primer underneath though for longevity and since I have pretty dry skin, I like to have an even canvas. While it does need a bit of concealer to work with for dark circles and blemishes, the finish itself is beautiful - not full coverage, but not too sheer either. I did not need to powder over at all, but I just topped it off with a light dusting to keep things in place. Oilier skin types may need one, especially in the summer, if you don’t want the finish to turn too shiny. Overall, its a very natural looking foundation that looks luminous without being too dewy and the 24 color shade range pretty much covers a wide variety of skin tones.
