L’Occitane’s new Pivoine Sublime Tinted Lip Balms ($16; usa.loccitane.com) are a great summer pick if you want just a wash of color and hydration. The balms come in four variants, three tinted and one transparent and protect with an SPF of 25. They are quite scented, its a lovely Peony scent that lingers on for a bit and the formula features Shea Butter and Peony extract.
The texture does need a bit of warming up, but the balm isn’t too melty or squishy and has just the right amount of creaminess that can be worn alone or under lipstick. The packaging is beautiful and the price is just right. I won’t say these are extremely glossy, but they are just what they’re described to be - subtly tinted and hydrating. I’ve also tried Rose Plum as a cheek color and it looks very natural with an almost stain like finish. Both Rose Amber and Rose Plum look like nice washes of browny pinks on my lips, while Transparent is just a veil of moisture with no color. Overall, I’d definitely recommend trying these no-fuss balms if you like extremely natural looking, sheer, lightweight lip products for summer!
