My Current Three Must Have Foundation Brushes

For the longest time I never used many brushes for foundations or base makeup in general. I still like using my fingers for tricky textures and thicker consistencies, but these are my must have makeup brushes that I’ve absolutely been loving for foundation application of late.

Three Must Have Foundation Brushes from MAC Bobbi brown and Dior

Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face Brush ($42; bobbibrown.com) - This is one I picked up after wanting to add a good, flat top buffing brush in my collection. Its a super dense, but also a super soft brush to buff product in. Its the quickest way to finish a full face of foundation. While I do like the softness and the quality of the brush, I feel that it does drink up a little product and takes forever to dry! That apart, its a very well constructed brush by Bobbi Brown and I love the short, chunky size of the brush.

MAC 130 Short Duo Fibre Brush ($42; maccosmetics.com) - The MAC 130 has got to be my favorite duo fibre stippling brush ever. I personally love the smaller size, although  I can see how it can be a problem for some. I love to use this as the final step to just buff and even things out and it leaves a gorgeous airbrushed finish. Its also fabulous to blend under eye concealer and to work with very pigmented blushes. It does shed quite a bit though, but it is super easy to clean, dries fast and does the job super effectively.

Dior Backstage Foundation Light Coverage Fluid Brush ($45; dior.com) -  Dior’s Fluid Foundation brush is larger than your regular foundation brush and the construction is beautiful (comes with a velvet sleeve too!) . Its hand crafted with a mix of natural and synthetic hair and helps sheering out thick foundations. With thinner or creamier foundations, it applies a skin like layer that looks very natural without any streaking or foundation brush stokes. Its super soft and quite dense, but the shape applies product evenly and the pointed edge is nice to pat product under the eyes and around the nose. I also love to use it with cream or mousse-like blushes for a natural looking wash of color.
