Buffing Beauties by bare minerals ($49; bareescentuals.com) is a new, limited edition holiday kit that comes with five of bareMinerals’ face and eye brushes. The brushes come with a gorgeous red, clutch-like brush holder that has a separate compartment to store a lipstick or two as well.
The brushes are made of natural hair, according to the info on the bareMinerals website. The set comes with a Face Brush, a Blush Brush, Full Tapered Eyeshadow Brush, Eyeshadow Buffing Brush and a Liner Blending Brush.
Heavenly Face Brush - is a slightly dense, natural hair (goat) buffing brush for powders and creams. Its quite a soft brush that buffs in product quite easily and really quick. I like it more with creams than powders. The application is not too sheer or too heavy.
Heavenly Blush Brush - a bit smaller in size than the Face Brush, but more dense and good for precise application. I think this brush is exclusive to this kit since its not listed on the website as a stand alone brush. Its a unique size and good for cream application.
Full Tapered Shadow Brush - a natural (pony and ox) hair brush that helps lay down shadow. Its a very soft brush that works really well with creams and powders. The size is a bit on the bigger side, so covers my entire lid in one go.
Heavenly Eyeshadow Buffing Brush - A very dense, eye shadow buffing brush that is good for color placement on the crease. It is very dense though, so I haven’t found much of a use for this one, but its a very soft brush that picks up color well.
Heavenly Liner Blending Brush - a less dense, smudger brush that can be used with liner as well. I prefer it to smoke colors out and to set liners with shadow. Its not a scratchy brush, is made of goat hair and is gentle around the lower lash line.
I’ve washed these brushes once since I started using them a week ago, and they have held up well. I noticed a hair or two fall out from the face brush, but it still has maintained the softness and shape. Overall, its a really nice set that has some good quality brushes for a decent price. The brushes are the right size, so very easy to travel with as well.
