Laura Mercier's new foundation, the Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide ($48; lauramercier.com), is a medium-full coverage foundation that gives a smooth, satin finish. The foundation comes in 24 shades, so I'm sure there's one for everyone, or at least a close enough match. *Press Sample
I tried out Suntan, which falls in the medium category with quite a nice mix of warm and cool tones. The packaging looks nice, but the tube does tend to get foundation all over the place and gets a tad messy with use since it is supposed to be stored cap facing down. Suntan is just a tad warm on me and can get a little dark in the winter, but blends perfectly at the moment and covers quite a bit of unevenness and blemishes with just a little amount of product. It isn't thick, rather quite runny, but blends easily with fingers and works equally nice with a brush. It doesn't emphasize large pores or settle into fine lines, but a good moisturizer prior to this is essential since it can cling on to dry spots, if any.
The finish is quite satiny matte, so there's no need for a powder, but I just did a light dusting to set everything in place. I din't have any problems with it sliding off mid day or getting shiny, even though I wore it out on a hot and humid day. Flawless Fluide also feels super lightweight and comfortable, and the coverage is buildable, although I quite like the way it looks with just a sheer layer on. It is oil-free, but the formula does tend to separate, so be sure to give it a good shake to get the consistency right.
