The Volupte Sheer Candy Glossy Balm Crystal Color in 15 Rose Candy ($34; sephora.com) is one of four new shades that YSL just launched as additions to their Sheer Candy Balm lineup. Its a gorgeous sheer pink creme with a super glossy finish. There's also a new, sheer berry and a couple of nudes, all of them very wearable and quite flattering on most skin tones.
The Sheer Candy Balms are just the sort of lip product I could wear anytime of the year, not just summer. Rose Candy looks just a tad cool toned in the tube, but is rather wearable for my skintone. The color is a soft wash of pink with a beautiful balmy texture. While I don't see any visible shimmer or glitter, the color itself is glossy with a lovely sheen. The packaging like everything else from YSL is just beautiful and luxe. The only downside is the staying power - I get about a couple of hours after which it is completely gone. Rose Candy doesn't leave behind a stain either, so it requires some touching up to do. On the plus side, I love the weightless texture and the ease of use. While not the most moisturizing, it definitely keeps my lips feeling comfortably soft with the right hint of color. I am quite sensitive to scented lip products, but I don't mind the fruity scent this one has. If you like sheer lipsticks/balms and are looking for a wearable, light pink for summer, definitely check Rose Candy out!
