Crossroads and Wrong Turn are two new nail polishes I got to try out as part of the Phillip Lim for NARS Nail Polish Collection ($20 each; narscosmetics.com) that launches July 15th. The collection features nine shades, a mix of rich jewel tones and darker vampy shades in a smooth, opaque formula and a fabulous new brush. *Press Samples
Crossroads is a rather deep, blackened purple that looks almost like black on the nails, after two coats and has absolutely no shimmer or glitter. Crossroads is a lovely color for fall and the the formula was completely opaque in two coats. Wrong Turn is a rich, metallic graphite with a fantastic formula that was opaque in just one coat. My swatch is one coat of Wrong Turn and two coats of Crossroads. The re-designed brush is quite flat with a curved edge, which reminds me of Dior's new gel formula brush - its easy even on my smaller nails and hardly needs any sort of clean up after. The curve makes all the difference as opposed to just flat brushes and I'm glad NARS' new polishes have them. The removable caps are a nice feature too and help with better polish application and lesser mistakes. Both are lovely colors, but I like Wrong Turn a bit more than Crossroads. It was just super fast to dry, the consistency was perfect with no brush strokes or bubbling for a metallic finish. Crossroads is a really nice color too and while it needed two coats for opacity, it still dried fast and you just can't go wrong with a classic creme shade like this one!
