NARS' new Dual-Intensity Eye Shadows (
$29; narscosmetics.com) come in twelve gorgeous shades, with a formula that can be used wet/dry. Used dry, they work as sheer washes of color, while a damp brush helps with building the intensity a bit.

I tried out
Subra, a smokey plum brown and
Desdemona, a rich metallic burgundy. The packaging and design are beautiful - the shadows are compact, come with a nice little mirror inside and the pattern on the product is just lovely. Both Subra and Desdemona have amazing color payoff, wet or dry. I did find that Subra, when used damp, was just a tad difficult to blend and the color does look slightly patchy, when used as a sheer wash - using your fingers to pat the color on helps a lot. Desdemona was just perfect, either ways. It also has a soft sheen to it that looks so fabulous when used as a sheer wash. There's a lot of finely milled, yet eye catching shimmer that adds quite a bit of dimension to the shadows. The textures feel great for powder products - almost feels like a cream eye shadow, soft and silky, with little to no fallout. I tested these over NARS' Pro Prime Eye Shadow Base and they wore about 6-7 hours with very little fading or creasing.

Overall, definitely worth checking out at least a shade or two, Desdemona being something I would highly recommend, if you fancy purples and plums. Subra is a nice one if you like darker, smokey shades and makes for a fabulous eyeliner, especially along the lower lash line. I can't wait to checkout Himalia, which looks like a beautiful, shimmery lid color.
NARS Dual Intensity Eye Shadows launch July 1st at NARS Boutiques and online at narscosmetics.com.
What do you think of Desdemona and Subra?
They look quite pigmented in your swatches.. I wasn't too impressed with these though.. for the price you'd expect them to be stunning!

Oh really? The pigmentation is quite good actually! I can't speak for the other shades, but these two were packed with color :)
