Hakuhodo K005 Eye Shadow Brush ($18) is a flat, short, dense brush that works really well with powder and cream products. Its called an eye shadow brush, but I like it for gel liners, cake eye liners and to smudge or set products with shadow.
K005 is a really well made brush - the bristles are super soft (weasel), yet quite firm to pick up and lay product. The softness makes it a really nice brush to use along the lower lash line to smudge products or to place eye shadow. It does splay just a tad the very first wash, but the shape is still well maintained for the most part. Its also a great brush to really work products close to your lash line and to fill in any gaps on the base of your lashes. I wouldn't recommend it for placing eye shadow all over the lid though - its a tad too small for that purpose, (see size comparison below next to a MAC 239 flat shader brush - they're different brushes functionally, this is just a size comparison) but its really a nice size for detail work, easy to clean and dries super fast!
