Satin Taupe ($15), is one of MAC's most popular shades and a very versatile, effortless, everyday color for most skintones. Satin Taupe is described as "Taupe with Silver shimmer" - it is quite frosty, atleast on my skintone and has slight mauve undertones when blended out.
Worn alone, Satin Taupe looks much lighter on my lids than how it looks in the pan. I quite like it as a sheer wash - that's how I wear it most of the time, paired with some eyeliner and a few coats of mascara. It does pair well with warm browns, greys and deeper colors in the crease. I also like Satin Taupe over a few darker bases - it looks stunning, just like how it does in the pan and makes for an easy, soft smokey eye. Its a frost finish, but the texture is very smooth, hardly any fallout and easily blendable and buildable. Overall, its a lovely shade to own if you like neutrals, taupes and anything that is effortlessly easy to wear with just some eyeliner & mascara.
Do you have Satin Taupe? What do you pair it with? Do tell!

I have Satin Taupe. I think it really is a MAC hit (and I generally dislike MAC). It's more complex than a regular taupe. I like using mine with black gel liner and a soft brown e/s in the outer v.
ReplyDeleteHi Chris, Yup, it looks fantastic with a soft brown e/s!! Have you tried Antique? that's one of my favs as well :)
Deleteone of my favorite eye shadows by MAC. I love it so much!
ReplyDeleteYay! What do you like to pair it with?

ReplyDeleteThanks, Niki! Def. pick it up..it would look gorgeous on you!!
DeleteI have this eyeshadow and I LOVE it. It really works well with all 3 Naked palettes! Darkhorse (Naked 1) pairs really nicely with it.

Ohh that sounds like a lovely combo! Can't go wrong with neutrals!!
Deletethis color looks so great on you! I always thought this was too warm on me, but it looks awesome on you!
ReplyDeleteIt will look very nice on you! If you find it too metallic-y, try it over a black base :)
DeleteI keep hearing so many wonderful things about Satin Taupe and I do actually have it, but on me it looks quite metallic silver/purple, whereas on you and others that have reviewed it it looks almost brown/purple. When I wear it during the day I always look a bit too glammed up. It could be the way it reacts on my skin tone. I wish there were more colours in MAC that are more matte. With my dark skin AND dark circles, the shimmer can be a little bit ageing!!
