The Longwear Creme Eye Pencils ($24) are a new launch for summer from Laura Mercier. These pencils come in six shades - Noir, Espresso, Slate, Sage, Violet and Cobalt. I tried Cobalt, a soft blue and Sage, a toned down, green. **Press Samples
My favorite of the two is Sage - its a softer, very wearable green that looks great along the lash line. Texture wise, both pencils feel quite waxy and seem to work better on the lash line than along the waterline. I din't have to tug or pull, but Cobalt was quite weak on pigmentation. I had to swipe it quite a few times to get the blue to show up. It looks better over a black liner though. Sage on the other hand was quite pigmented, but it is more of a soft green. You may be disappointed if you are looking for a richer, intense green. I've been reaching out to Sage a lot - it looks pretty fabulous just smudged along the lash line, paired with a few coats of mascara.
Both pencils are waterproof and take a while to set, so they smudge out quite well. There was a little bit of creasing around the 5 hour mark and slight fading along the outer corners. I do wish it was a little more pigmented, especially Cobalt. The color layers well to look like a true blue, but that is only after about 2-3 swipes. Sage on the other hand is a gorgeous color and better off, pigmentation wise, when compared to Cobalt.
