Laura Mercier's Dark Spell Collection for fall features a new Kohl Liner Extreme ($24;Press Sample), a rich black kohl that can be used for definition on the waterline and to tightline. The packaging is similar to most twist up Kohl/Kajals that help with precise definition, especially on the inner rims.
I have a thing for kohls, extreme black eyeliners and anything that helps me with quick and easy definition. Kohl Liner Extreme is a deep, rich black that isn't quite matte - it has a slight sheen and velvety smooth application. It is smooth enough not to tug the lash line and has the right consistency to adhere well to the waterline. I've tried my fair share of black eyeliners and while this isn't the blackest black I've tried, it sure is very rich and pigmented enough to add a lot of definition. It doesn't bother my eyes, make them itchy or watery so its been my go-to liner/kohl ever since I received it. All you need is a swipe or two and since it doesn't actually set, unless you use a powder eye shadow on top, there's a lot of time to smudge it out. I like my kohls a tad smudgy and not overly precise, so I have no problem with that!
It is quite water resistant, but not waterproof and wears about 4-5 hours on my lash line and a little lesser on my waterline. On the plus side, it doesn't give me raccoon eyes - it just fades off without smearing all over the place, which makes it a great pick for summer! Overall, a nice, creamy, conveniently packaged kohl liner that's quick and easy to use, especially if you never skip lining your waterline.
