I've always been interested in trying out various sizes and shapes of pointed eye shadow brushes, mainly because of how versatile, quick and easy they are with eyeliners and eye shadows when going for a simple, everyday look. I never tend to skip eyeliner on my water and lower lash line so these type of pointed/pencil brushes are something I would get a lot of use out of.
I picked up the Hakuhodo G5515 Pointed Eye Shadow Brush ($15) because I wanted something a little more smaller and a tad more firmer than the MAC219, which is also a pencil brush that works great for detailed work or precise application along the lash lines and inner corners. G5515 is even more precise and petite. It is extremely small when compared to the MAC219 and is perfect for smudging shadow along the lash lines, and picks up product very well. The bristles have natural hair, so it works wonderfully with gel liners too. G5515 feels super soft when compared to the MAC 219 (which can get quite scratchy sometimes), but also has enough stiffness to smudge products out and soften edges. I still do like the 219 and use it quite a lot, but I'm only comparing these two since they are both pointed/pencil brushes and its nice to have this type of brush in a couple of sizes.
Overall, the G5515 is a fantastic brush that I get a ton of use out of. The quality is amazing, the brush itself is slim, light weight and very well made, like everything else from Hakuhodo is. The white bristles tend to get super dirty and since it is super small, it also is a tad difficult to clean, but its all worth it.
I bought mine online at http://hakuhodousa.com/
