Bonne Etoile ($61) is one of two eye shadow palettes released as part of Dior's new Mystic Metallics Fall 2013 Collection. Bonne Etoile, exclusive to Nordstrom comes embossed with "Dior's Lucky Star" and has a beautiful mix of rich, metallic, fall appropriate shades.
The color combination within the palette is quite unique - I love the mix of a couple of warm and cool colors and yet how beautifully they work well with each other. Most of the shades are quite shimmery and the lightest metallic mauvy taupe borders on being a little too 'glittery' for my taste. The colors aren't terribly pigmented in one swipe, but that gets sorted out when used over a primer. I found that the dark teal and the rich brown both work well when patted onto my lids with my fingers, rather than using a brush. I would recommend using a brush only the buff the edges out. They don't sheer out too much that way and there's not much of glitter fall out too. The palette in general has very minimal fallout, but the glitter does tend to migrate quite a bit.
As for the shades, I like the rich brown, the teal and the dark green a lot - they are quite flattering when used all over the lid and also pair well with quite a few colors from other palettes I own. The other two shades aren't the most flattering on me. They do work well when paired with the right colors though, just not by themselves. The lightest of the bunch, the light mauvy taupe is also the most shimmery and drier than the others, texture wise. Overall, its a good palette, the colors are gorgeous and the design is fabulous, but I did find that although soft to the touch, the eye shadows felt a teeny bit dry while blending out. If that doesn't bother you so much and the colors and the finish appeal to you, its lovely to have!
Available now at Nordstrom online and in-stores.

It looks lovely. I've never tried any of the Dior eyeshadow palettes because they sell for almost $100 in Australia. :(
ReplyDelete$100?!! That's too bad :( $61 isn't exactly cheap here too..And Dior palettes apparently lack quite a bit consistency wise :/
DeleteDior's packaging is gorgeous, and these colors are so perfect for fall! That teal color is amazing!
