BUXOM's new launch for summer is the Hot Escapes Bronzer ($28 each, Press Sample) - a finely milled bronzer that comes in two shades. Tahiti is a sheer, golden tan which works more like a highlight on my skin tone and Maldives, a deeper, rich bronze. Although shimmery, the texture feels smooth to the touch and the finely milled shimmer doesn't feel chunky.
The packaging, like most compacts from BUXOM, comes with a generously sized mirror for touch ups. I'm not sure if these are ideal for contouring, as I wouldn't recommend anything with shimmer for that. On my medium/dark skintone, Tahiti is more of a shimmery highlight that adds a lovely, subtle sheen. On lighter skin tones the color might look a tad more deep. Maldives is perfect for a golden glow - just a little dusting along the cheekbones creates a gorgeous, chiseled effect. It reminds me of NARS Lovejoy blush, only more golden. If you are like me & don't reach out to bronzers all that often, Maldives is a good one to have - worn subtly, it can double up as a blush and adds a little bit of warmth. Both bronzers have a really beautiful, subtle glow that enhances any complexion without making you look like a disco ball - just be sure to go light handed.
Buxom infused these with Shea Butter and Cucumber extract and they are paraben-free. They also smell amazing - like toasted coconuts! Overall, I love the smooth, creamy texture for a powder product and how very easily it blends. The coverage is buildable, but I would recommend going light handed to avoid shimmer overload and also since these are quite pigmented to start with.
What do you think of the BUXOM Hot Escapes Bronzer?
