Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo

Amika's new Perk Up Dry Shampoo ($21) is a talc-free, light-weight dry shampoo, perfect to revive hair in between washes. The shampoo is enhanced with rice starch and Seabuckthorn Berry extracts to nourish and condition hair and scalp.

Like the Amika Oil Treatment, the Shampoo too has a very strong, but lovely scent that lingers on until you wash your hair. I don't wash my hair everyday, more like every other day. I have oily roots and dry ends, a common problem lot of people have. While I don't use a dry shampoo very regularly, I do like to touch up in between when my roots get extremely oily and flat. The nozzle on the Amika Dry Shampoo dispenses a fine mist that sprays on evenly. It is colorless, light-weight and doesn't leave a whitish cast. I spray on about 10 inches away from my scalp and massage it in with fingers and comb through. There's no white residue and it does a pretty good job of soaking up oil and gently lifting up the roots. The best thing about the Amika Dry Shampoo is how I can spray on after a few hours to refresh and not feel like I have a ton of product sitting on my hair.

Overall, if you tend to get really oily on your scalp, a better option would be to wash, but if you want to stretch just a day more or even a few hours, the Amika Dry Shampoo is a perfect product for that. It doesn't soak up all the greasiness in one go, so you may have to go over again. I don't use dry shampoos regularly, I much prefer washing out the gunk, but it is a nice little product to have handy especially when you are traveling. One big gripe is that Amika products have gotten terribly hard to find, ever since Sephora stopped carrying a lot of their products. As of now, they are only available at Professional Salons & folica.com

Have you tried the Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo? What are some of your favorite Dry Shampoos?

    1. Yeah, some people have a talc allergy so this version seems more gentle too!
