The Elizabeth Arden New York Beauty collection features a few of their best-selling Eight Hour Creams in limited-edition packaging. The Lip Protectant Gloss ($17) is a petrolatum based, glossy lip treatment for dry, chapped lips.
Packaged in a convenient squeeze tube, the concentrated lip treatment has a faint, citrusy smell. It goes on clear and leaves a glossy finish that is perfect to be worn over matte lipsticks and stains, just like you would with any other lip gloss. It doesn't sink in really fast, but doesn't feel waxy or sticky. I haven't tried too much from the eight hour cream line but this gloss, I can say, is very effective if you have chronic dry lips. It has a high concentration of petrolatum, so if you are looking for something with a more natural ingredients list, this may not be it. But, if you want a cure for dry lips or something you can use alone or over drying lipsticks, this is a great choice! It does retain moisture really well for about 4-5 hours and doesn't feel heavy at all. I like it as a a base too, but only after I blot the majority of it off, just so the lip color applies evenly.
