One of the new fall launches from Korres, the Volcanic Minerals Volumizing Mascara ($20), is derived from volcanic soil that claims to increases lash volume by 600 percent. "Obsidian Black" is a jet black that coats lashes with a rich pigment for thick, dark lashes.
A quick look at the wand and I was pretty convinced this mascara would be a good one for my barely there lashes. I usually curl my lashes before mascara and this one does a good job of holding the curl well. With just one swipe, it volumizes and lengthens pretty well and with two, there was a perfect balance of both without making my lashes feel heavy or stiff. Usually by the time I apply the second coat, most mascaras feel dry, but this one doesn't. It does feel quite wet initially, but gets better in consistency with usage. The large brush makes it a tad difficult to coat the tiny lashes near the inner corners but otherwise, there's nothing bad I have to say about this.
Overall, the Korres Volcanic Minerals Volumizing Mascara is perfect if you have short, stubby lashes like me and need volume and length without the flakiness. The color is a jet black which makes lashes look thicker with a slight glossy sheen. Like any other volumizing mascara, there's slight clumping with the formula, but I can very well overlook that considering how well it volumizes my tiny lashes! It isn't waterproof but jet black pigment does take some effort to remove completely.
