Caudalie Beauty Elixir (Updated With Recent Thoughts)

The Caudalie Beauty Elixir ($18 -$48) is a refreshing, part toner, part serum facial mist made from essential oils and plant extracts. The Beauty Elixir can also be used to set make-up or anytime during the day when you want to feel refreshed. I got mine as part of a skincare set from Caudalie along with some other products that I've been wanting to try for a while.

The packaging is very travel friendly and I haven't had any problems with the product leaking into my bag or anywhere else. It tends to separate quite a bit so be sure to shake well before spritzing it on. The smell is slightly medicinal, but quite zingy at the same time. The product contains alcohol (plant origin) and can be slightly drying, but when followed up with a moisturizer or serum, it adds a healthy radiance. If you tend to have large pores, this one has a temporary effect of shrinking them to an extent. I would not recommend using this alone as it works best under a moisturizer or over a layer of makeup if you use it to refresh during the day. The mist has a slight tingle that lasts a while so Caudalie suggests keeping eyes closed while spritzing it on.

Overall, the Caudalie Beauty Elixir is a nice little refreshment on a hot day or anytime you want to instantly energize your skin. Every time I get a zit or two, this one does a wonderful job of calming it down. [ EDITED to Add : Initially, my zits seemed to calm down, but of late, it breaks me out like crazy, so I've stopped spritzing it on my face. The scent is very relaxing though, so I just use it for a bit of aromatherapy, by spritzing it on my palms and sniffing the beautiful scent when I'm feeling stressed out (I din't want to throw it out, so learnt this little trick from one of Lisa Eldridge' videos). I know its a tad pricey for that, but to sum up, I stay away from spraying this directly onto my face and won't recommend if you are sensitive, acne-prone or have slightly troublesome skin. My skin is sensitive-dry leaning slightly combination in the summer. The skin irritants did their job so effectively on my sensitive skin :-)  ] But, keep in mind that it has quite a few skin irritants like peppermint oil so use in moderation if you tend to have redness and/or overly sensitive skin. I reach out to this anytime during the day when I want to perk up my skin, feel instantly fresh and extremely refreshed!

Have you tried the Caudalie Beauty Elixir?

    1. Yeah, peppermint oil can be quite irritating. It can trigger breakouts for some :(
