John Frieda's new Frizz-Ease Sheer Solution ($9.99) is a light-weight frizz control solution for medium-fine hair. The dual formula needs to be shaken well before using since it contains part serum and part smoothing elixir that help smoothen hair, providing light weight nourishment.
My hair gets very dry and frizzy in the summer and thick serums do a great job taming it but also leave my roots looking like an oily mess after a day. This solution has a very light texture and spreads really well on damp hair without leaving a greasy residue. It also has a very pleasant smell that I like. Although it is meant for medium-fine hair, it worked really on my hair, keeping flyaways in place. I did re-apply it on dry hair after about 6 hours but, it did not weigh my hair down or make my roots oily at all. The product also adds a nice gloss and a lot of movement to hair, making it look very healthy and bouncy. I use about 5-6 drops, not 10 like the product says. The dispenser has good control but, it may not be the best to travel with.
Overall, if you tend to have extremely frizzy, unmanageable hair, this may not be the perfect smoothing product for you. But, it does control frizz to an extent and adds a healthy sheen to dry hair. However, on hair that doesn't get too frizzy or on fine hair, this light-weight solution is perfect and manages to work really well without weighing it down! Also since I don't wash my hair everyday, I much prefer this over the John Frieda Frizz-Ease original serum which felt very heavy and greasy on my hair.
