Essence has finally jumped into the cream eye shadow bandwagon too. It's a good thing since they make some fabulous inexpensive products. The Essence Stay All Day Long-Lasting Eye Shadows($2.99) are long-wearing, cream eye shadows with a silky texture that can be worn alone or under any eye shadow to extend its wear.
There are three shades currently launched as part of the spring collection of which I have two here. "Glammy Goes To", a shimmery antique bronze and "Stars & Stories", a frosty silver. The texture is very creamy and the shadows are nicely pigmented. They come packaged in a small plastic jar. The shadows seemed a little too dry to be picked up from the jar on the first use but, after a couple of swipes, they went on smooth. I find that they go on much better when I use my fingers as opposed to a brush. They stay on pretty well even without a primer on my lids and start fading after about 5 hours. With a primer, they stay crease-free for about 8 hours which is great. They also layer really well under powder eye shadows in co-coordinating shades. "Glammy Goes To" is an amazing shade that I like to wear under MAC's Woodwinked, which is one eye shadow I reach out to so often. For the price, I can't complain too much about the plastic packaging but, I think glass jars would keep the product from drying out too soon.
Overall, these cream shadows are a great bargain and do what they are supposed to do without breaking the bank. The current shade selection seems too small. I wish there were more neutrals and darker, less frosty shades available too.
Have you tried the Essence Stay All Day Long-Lasting Eye Shadow?

I saw these the other day at my local shop and I wasnt sure if it would crease or not. I love the shades you picked. I will have to try it out!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sidrah! Glad you like them. Definitely worth a pickup :)
DeleteOh, I hope these are here too when Essence finally launches in Canada next month. I'm so lazy lately and love swiping a cream shadow and not fussing with brushes.
ReplyDeleteEssence is launching in Canada? That's cool! I hope you get to try on some awesome stuff :)
DeleteThese are pretty, but I was also hoping for some neutrals. I'm hoping to find a cheaper dupe for MAC Groundwork. :)
ReplyDeleteI love my neutrals too! I wish they had a nice brown. Have you tried looking into the new Maybelline Tattoo shadows to see if they have a dupe. I only have a dark maroon and the formula is fab!
DeleteI bought Bad to the Bronze and Pomegranate Punk. They have a taupe one, but I think that will look ashy on me. :(
ReplyDeleteI got Pomegranate Punk too! They did not have Bad to the Bronze in stock but I will eventually get it! Yeah, I thought the Taupe would wash me out so I left it there :D :D
