The Burberry Wet & Dry Glow Eye Shadows ($29; shop.nordstrom.com) are a new launch and currently come in four iridescent lighter nude shades. I picked up Nude 002, a really hard color to describe, but I mostly see a shimmery, beige taupe with a metallic, slightly frosty finish!
I was surprised to see Burberry launch a shimmer packed formula, but they have done shimmer well, without it being too chunky or tacky. The formula can be used wet and dry, but that’s were my problem is. While using it dry, I had absolutely no issues - amazing pigmentation, nice wash of shimmer on the lids, great dimension and blendability. To use it wet, I dampened a flat shader brush, picked up some shadow and patted it on my lids. The finish was stunning, almost foil like and glossy with a wet look and the color looked more vibrant. Sadly, after a couple of days, the surface where I used a wet brush hardened and cracked! I could still pick up color, but the texture had certainly changed. So if you do plan to use it wet, reserve a corner for that and try not to wet the whole surface of the eyeshadow. I’m not sure if its the same with the other shades, or if I got a dud, but just something to keep in mind, in case you plan to use it wet quite a lot. I prefer using it dry.
That apart, the formula was easy to use, little to no fallout, super silky in texture and lasted well over 6 hours, with minimal creasing, over a primer. The Wet Dry Glow Eyeshadows have a good dose of shimmer, but tastefully done, and if you don’t mind a little bit of sparkle, it definitely is worth checking out. I found the other shades a bit frosty and light for me, so I went with Nude, which I think is the most unique of the bunch and would also flatter a lot of skin tones.
