YSL's new Gloss Volupte Lip Gloss ($32; yslbeautyus.com) is a permanent addition to YSL's core collection and a new launch for Spring 2014. Its available in 23 shades and also features a sparkling gold, silver and black top coat to jazz up any lipstick.
Rose Orfevre is a sheer, peachy pink with finely milled gold shimmer. The shimmer adds a lot of dimension, shine and the color is close to a clear gloss on my pigmented lips. There's a very slight hint of pink and it makes for a great gloss to pair with a stronger, smokey eye. The packaging is very YSL, gorgeous and classy! The lip-shaped applicator is supposed to hug the curve of your lips for easy and precise application - it does that well and also makes sure there's no gloppy, glossy mess and the product is evenly deposited. As for the texture, I found it to be very slick and non-sticky - it doesn't feel heavy at all and there's a smooth feel even though there's quite a bit of shimmer. But, it can also cling onto lip dryness quite a bit. The texture is quite similar to Lancome's Gloss in Love, much less smoother than Guerlain's Gloss d'Enfer or the Dior Addict Glosses and like any other gloss it lasts about 2-3 hours on me. My only qualm is that it has a slightly strong scent - its the same scent that the Rouge Volupe Shine Lipsticks from YSL have, but stronger and it does take a while to completely dissipate. I'm still waiting for some darker shades to arrive, so I can't speak much about the pigmentation of those, but Rose Orfevre is quite a sheer gloss, nice on its own when I use a lip liner to even my lips out and a fabulous one to use on top of any lipstick!
Have you tried any of the YSL Gloss Volupte Lip Glosses?
